St John’s College has been named the Top Independent School in Wales for Academic Outcomes 2022. The College previously won Welsh Independent School of the Year in 2018 and has consistently been the highest achieving school in Wales at A Level for 20 years. This latest accolade takes into account our pupils’ achievements at GCSE too, so represents a wider acknowledgement of the school’s academic excellence.

However, none of this would be possible without the outstanding work of our Nursery, Infant and Junior schools who work tirelessly to prepare our pupils for their secondary education. St John’s College is defined by our community spirit and family atmosphere, embodied in our strong Catholic ethos.

Headteacher, Mr Shaun Moody says:

I am both delighted and proud to learn that St John’s College, Cardiff has achieved the award of being the top school in Wales for Academic Achievement by Sunday Times Parent Power.

The success of the school is a result of the many positive features and initiatives which have allowed it to flourish and develop over many years. St John’s is a caring, friendly and inclusive community with a fantastic track record in academic achievement.

My thanks and congratulations to our dedicated staff, supportive parents and hard working pupils who all deserve this wonderful recognition.

The top-performing schools in Wales are revealed in Parent Power, The Sunday Times Schools Guide 2022, available online on Friday 3rd December and as a supplement with The Sunday Times on Sunday 5th December.

The 29th edition of Parent Power identifies the highest-achieving schools in the UK, ranked by their examination results from 2017-19. A fully searchable national database by school name, local authority, town and postcode, together with regional rankings are available to Times and Sunday Times subscribers at: thesundaytimes.co.uk/parentpower
