At the WISC Conference 2019 we saw our inaugural WISC School Awards which were voted by you, the members who attended the conference . In recognition and honour of the excellent work that goes on in our schools , WISC are pleased to announce the winners who won awards in the following categories:

• Best Wellbeing Initiative – Cardiff 6th Form College – Their CREATE Portfolio is a system that promotes and tracks positive mental health and wellbeing. They use amazing depth of research and detailed mapping of delivery. The follow up is done properly with very high proportions of students seeing increased wellbeing scores and they have gained recognition for excellence nationally.

 

 

• Best Community Engagement Initiative – Howell’s School – Rob King , Physics Teacher developed the ‘White-Bang’ Science Workshops delivered by college students to local primary schools such as holograms, making lava lamps and taking ‘lab in a box’ to schools.

 

 

• Best Environmental Impact Initiative – Cathedral School – A highly pro-active Eco Community has been set up by Cathedral School which has banned single-use plastic bottles, they run an allotment to avoid plastic packaging and they have prevented over 50,000 plastic bottles ending up in landfill sites since inception.
