Thursday 12th February from 10.30am to 12pm for to address the increasing prevalence of SEND Tribunals in the Independent Schools Sector
The session will comprise of:-
Introduction:
A reminder of the duties and obligations on independent schools and looking at the recent decisions concerning disability discrimination in relation to school placements, informal exclusions and permanent exclusions including examining the extent of the obligations on schools to provide specified educational provision.
Real Life Scenario:
Presenting a scenario (based on matters advised upon in acting for independent school clients in SEND Tribunal claims), inviting contributions and questions from participants.
Conclusion:
Concluding the session by focusing on learning points to take away and the developments that we expect to see in the future, particularly how VAT being charged on fees will impact on more pupils moving on to EHCPs and the need for increased support for pupils with SEN in the independent schools sector.
